You're probably wondering how we handle pricing.
How much does video production cost?
What type of investment will I have to make?
Well, there is no easy answer to this. The short answer is, it depends.
The long answer is, just like building a house, planning a wedding or buying a car, there is a lot to take into account to make a firm final price.

Ask several video production companies about their pricing, and you'll notice multiple answers and conflicting results...
Some charge by the minute, some on a per-project basis. Nonetheless, 10 common factors will bring the budget up or down. As video professionals, we know there are more than 30 factors when we plan a shoot, but those are the most influential.
We'll empower you with honest and reliable information on this page.
This is one of the most critical factors in price. How long will it take to shoot your project? Can we do it in one afternoon or do we have to shoot over multiple weeks or months? The question seems obvious, but some concepts are more complex than others and might change your budget dramatically. An interview will be shot much faster than following a construction over several months. To optimize cost, it's something wise to combine multiple shoots in the same day rather than multiple smaller fragments.
Average shooting costs for a camera crew:
Hourly rates: 50$ to 300$/h
Half-Day (5 hours): 250$ to 1 500$
Full-Day ( 10 hours): 750$ to 5 000$
Things to consider in pricing:
- Number of cameramen and cameras
- Equipment used
- DOP (Director of Photography) and Directors
- Team experience
Editing is another essential part of the cost of a video project. Editing a 30 seconds piece does not mean it'll be easier than a 1-hour documentary. It depends on the depth and the editing style and visual effect required to meet the expected results. That's why TV commercials, even though only 30 seconds, can cost hundreds of thousands. Also editing a single camera project is faster than a triple camera interview, but the triple camera interview is way more dynamic. It's all about balance.
Average video editing pricing:
75$/h to 150$/h
Things to consider in pricing:
- Length of the final video(s)
- Amount of videos (single or series)
- Delivery formats and conversion
- Editing style and VFX
In most corporate videos, we recommend you use your team as talents. Not only does it save you cost, but it also builds trust towards your audience and gives a face and spirit to your business. When working on case study videos or testimonials, obviously, forget about actors, your clients are king.
While working with actors, there are many ways to do it. You can either work with union or non-union actors. Some project types require union actors, like TV Commercial for instance. For web projects, you have way more options. Also, an important factor is actor training and renown. If you wish to work with Will Smith or Brad Pitt to represent your brand, you can forget the below prices.
Average talent pricing:
150$ to 2 500$/day or more...
Things to consider in pricing:
- Union or Non-union
- Casting fees & auditions
- Agents
Generally shooting at your office or facility is way cheaper than renting a film studio. But then again, it depends. Will shooting at your manufacturing plant impact your production that day? How much is that worth? If not, those are the best footage! These kinds of details need to be discussed beforehand. Again to build trust and really show your business, using your premises is usually the best solution. For interview shots, we can use a hotel lobby, a breather space, restaurants, any location really. Public areas may require permits, this will increase pre-production time.
Average location pricing:
Hourly to daily rates. Depends what.
Things to consider in pricing:
- Location popularity
- Permits
- Possible production disruption or not
Having your crew looking good on camera is amazing, isn't it? On set, you can have a makeup professional or even wardrobe and stylist. Of course, this applies more for advertising projects or creative projects like music videos than corporate, but it is still to take into consideration.
Average makeup pricing:
50 to 100$ per person or daily rate from 200 to 450$/day
Things to consider in pricing:
- Experience of the makeup artist
- Makeup style - Interview or Cirque du Soleil?
- Accessories and styles
For premium projects, VFX (Visual effects) and animation can be necessary. This budget line is one of the most impactful on the total production budget and also the most difficult to price. Some VFX specialists charge per day, others per minute, and finally some per hour. It can range from simple stuff, like hiding a license plate to very complex technical drawing or alien invasion scenes.
Average Motion Graphics pricing:
250 to 1 000$/day
Average 3D Animation pricing:
250 to 2 500$/day
Things to consider in pricing:
- Experience of provider
- Complexity of project
- # of scenes to work on
These days stock footages are everywhere. They can save a shoot when missing some elements, at the same time you lose uniqueness on your project since all videographers around the world have access to the same libraries. If the message is more important than uniqueness in your project, then stock footages are a fantastic addition to existing live-action videos. Same for music, you can use royalty-free music from known sound banks for a fraction of the cost of original production.
B-Rolls are extra footage of your business, product, or people in action that amplify a message visually. It's not only telling, it's now showing.
Average stock footage and music pricing:
80 to 300$/each
Things to consider in pricing:
- License type (web use, TV, national, international)
- Resolution (720p, 1080p, 4K or more)
- Rarity of footage
Average Original music pricing:
350 to 2 000$/each
Shooting with a DSLR will be way cheaper than shooting on a RED Camera or ARRI. Sure. But these days the message, especially in video marketing is more important than the gear you use. Especially now lots of camera manufacturers amped their game quite high in terms of quality. Video equipment affects the price a bit like the number of shooting days, they are all linked together and exponentially. If you want to shoot interviews using 3 cameras, but suddenly would like to change 3 DSLR for 3 ARRI, that line only will not triple the price but will make it go 9x. To that, you'll have to factor in lighting, LED, HMI, Classic tungsten, all these different light types are used in different scenarios and will impact pricing. What about Camera movement systems, such as gimbal, jibs, and dollies. Oh, and sound? Lavalier and shotgun microphone. The list goes on, we can have a full article on this topic alone.
Average Equipment pricing:
• Top Tier camera (RED, ARRI, etc.) 1 500$/day
• Second Tier (High-end DSLR, Blackmagic) 100 to 300$/day
Things to consider in pricing:
- Sensor Quality (resolution, color rendition)
- Lens kit (prime and/or zoom)
- Light kit
- Sound kit
This is where the rubber meets the road for video marketing practices. Putting a final video on your home page is one thing. But real and powerful results also reside outside of your owned platform. There are social media and paid media platforms. From a simple landing page embed to fully advanced video programmatic advertising this will change your investment requirements. After choosing your distribution channel, you need to track your results so you can prove ROI on your videos. Martech (Marketing technologies) stacks vary depending on industries and requirements it can range from free software to multiple thousands per month. For instance, you could have video views and behavior tracked on your website, feeding data to your CRM, then scoring each lead accordingly. Hence helping your sales team make more informed decisions on which lead to pursue.
Average Distribution pricing:
From Free to Unlimited...
Things to consider in pricing:
- Platform type - free/paid
- Martech price (CRM/CMS/Analytics/SEO)
- Reach and audience
- Your desired monthly budget
Where is the crew shooting? This question will also impact the budget. Some clients fly teams to a specific location to capture interviews or facilities, while others are just around the corner next to our offices. Sometimes it's wiser to hire an offshore crew to send the footage back in and edit locally. There are multiple options. This budget line is also linked to number of shooting days, since moving back and forth to a location multiple times will increase distance log.
Average Travel cost:
50$ to 5000$
Things to consider in pricing:
- Travel distance
- Lodging
- Car or Truck rental
- Plane tickets price
- Equipment cargo cost
Pre-production, production complexity and post-production are the main drivers of price. Each part takes a significant amount of time and expertise.
Pre-Production: Based on the strategy, we prepare the shoot, scout locations and environments, cast actors, make an equipment list required, camera and lens, look for potential issues and fix them before the shoot. That's an essential part of the video production process and content marketing strategy. For projects with a video marketing mandate, we have to assess your customer persona, the customer journey and key performance indicators (KPI).
Production: This is where the rubber meets the road. We bring the gears, and we shoot. Shooting day can take from half a day to multiple days if required. Most of the time, we do on-site capture, which means we come to your office and capture raw actions right there. For advertising projects, we may shoot anywhere required, local or international.
Post-Production: This is video editing time, where the video starts to live. We bring all the footage (aka rushes) in our workstations, sort them, start the cuts, color correction and VFX if needed.
Delivery/Marketing: Here, prices vary greatly depending on the solution we'll decide to use together. The best distribution channel for your industry, your marketing budget, the software and tools used to deploy and track videos. And finally, management time and fees of a campaign.
You track revenue increases from videos and improvements in AI citations. Direct attribution is getting more complex these days, but you can track how much faster your closing window got, closing rates and revenue increase. Yes, video is an investment for your business if used correctly. Companies that treat videos as a commodity will simply post it on their home page and call it a day. If you ask them about the performance, they'll just say that people liked it, but not sure about the income... That's a major mistake. What's the ROI?
Companies that understand videos are an investment will learn about video's performance and how it lifts their metrics and learn about ways to drive their business with it. Videos should be used with a strategy.
This is a complex topic. There are many ways to measure the ROI of a video campaign. It all starts with intent. What are the main intent and expected results? What are the main KPIs that need to move in your business or funnel? A lift of only 2 to 5% on your website conversion rate can mean 200 to 300% more sales. Proper video transcripts can significantly improve your AI citation.
With specialized tools, we're able to track potential leads and attribute sales to video consumption. In the modern sales funnel having a multi-touch attribution model, we can see how videos impacted sales. Statistics show that a client is 74% more likely to buy from you after viewing videos that are relevant to them.
Technically yes, you could simply hire your local videographer but it'll end up costing you more. With video production, it must be done right the first time. Choosing the right video production agency will save you more in the long run. It might not be the cheapest option upfront, but it'll save you from having to reshoot a whole project.
Most video production companies do not have a proper understanding of marketing strategy to effectively package a relevant message to your audience. A video can be gorgeous, but if the message is wrong and the strategy poorly executed, it'll not bring you the expected results. We're more than just a bunch of creatives with cameras, we are a strategy-centric video production agency.
We do hire external camera crew when required on top of our own crew. In this case, we act as producers and will make sure to choose the right crew and brief them accordingly to follow our strict guidelines. Also, we'll handle the final editing, so we always stay in control of the content quality and develop/follow the established strategies.
Each project is different, but on average a project takes about 1 month to complete. Here is the breakdown:
- Pre-production: 2 to 6 weeks
- Production: 1 to multiple days
- Post-Production: 1 to 4 weeks
- Campaign: 1 day to several months depending on goals and budget
On the other hand, ongoing video production and marketing packages go from 6 to 24 months of engagement.
This will be a few video calls or face-to-face meetings. After we fully grasp your company and services, we're on autopilot but always in communication to share results and adjustments with you.
We offer a turnkey solution to most businesses. During the preparation process, your involvement will be crucial for us to get to know your business better, your pain points, your customer persona, current challenges and goals.
Our proposal will always include at least 2 revisions per video. Over the years, we noticed that this is the average round of revisions. You can request more revisions when needed.
The less special effects and treatment a video has, generally, the less expensive. A plain talking-head style video will usually cost way less than an explainer video with lots of motion graphics, 2D and 3D elements moving around.
Also, the fewer shooting days you have, the cheaper it is. We can squeeze multiple videos in 1 or 2 full days of shoot and still yield 10 videos out of these 2 days only.
