Bringing Research to Life: How Our Video Production Supported Disability Studies

Translating research into practical tools is a major challenge in healthcare and community service. When researchers published their study, "Rehabilitation strategies enhancing participation in shopping malls for persons living with a disability" (Disability and Rehabilitation), the main goal was clear: help clinicians, caregivers, and community members support people with physical and cognitive disabilities in everyday spaces.

That is where our video production team came in.

Academic journals are great for presenting data and qualitative findings. However, written reports do not always show what these strategies look like in practice. By creating clear visual media around this research, our video work helped connect academic theory with hands-on, everyday application.

Visualizing Real-World Scenarios

The study focused on community participation—specifically, how to help individuals with disabilities navigate busy public places like shopping malls. Malls present a lot of physical obstacles, crowded spaces, and social challenges that can be difficult to explain with text alone.

Through targeted video footage, we demonstrated the practical side of the research. We filmed realistic scenarios showing the actual rehabilitation techniques discussed in the study, such as navigating obstacles, practicing clinician-patient communication, and building confidence in public settings. Seeing these interactions on screen makes the concepts much easier to understand and apply.

Building Practical Learning Tools
